Report from Naples — Smallpox at Sorrento. 

Naples, Italy, October 10, 1900. 

Sir : I have the honor to report that for the week ended October 1 0, 
1900, the following ships were inspected : 

On October 4, the steamship ffesperia. of the Anchor Line, bound 
with passengers and cargo for New York. There weie inspected and 
passed 304 steerage passengers and 30 pieces of large and 518 pieces of 
small baggage. Forty pieces of baggage were disinfected by steam. 

On October 5, the steamship Werra, of the North German Lloyd 
Steamship Company, bound with passengers and cargo for New York.
